How much fat can be removed in liposuction?

In most cases, liposuction can only remove up to about 5000 ml (milliliters) of fat. On the scale, that equates to about 11 pounds. This sum is significantly large. Five liters is equivalent to 5000 milliliters. Imagine, then, that you have purchased two and a half 2-liter bottles of soda from the supermarket. This amount of fat is technically within your reach to lose (in most cases).

However, this level of removal isn’t appropriate for all patients. The state of your skin, the shape of your body, and your ideal weight and height all play significant roles. If you’re going to get liposuction, make sure your skin is elastic enough to “bounce back” or retract after the fat is removed. If this is not taken care of, you may end up with loose, hanging skin following liposuction.

Can liposuction remove all fat?

In order to remove unwanted fat, a cannula (a hollow tube) and an aspirator (a suctioning device) are used in every liposuction surgery. It’s worth stressing that liposuction really does eliminate fat cells from the body for good.

What kind of fat can be removed with liposuction?

About 80% of our total body fat is this kind of fat. Those curious about liposuction to reduce body fat will learn that the technique can be used to address subcutaneous fat. Instead, the fat around your internal organs is called visceral fat.

Can liposuction remove all belly fat?

Specifically, liposuction removes just subcutaneous fat, which is found in the layer of tissue that lies between the skin and the muscle. Fat under the muscle and around the internal organs (visceral or intra-abdominal fat) causes a protruding abdomen that cannot be reduced by liposuction.

Is liposuction the best way to remove fat?

Legs, stomach, back, arms, face, and neck fat are some of the best candidates for liposuction removal. Although it is effective, it takes longer to recover from (up to six weeks) and often costs more than nonsurgical fat removal procedures.
