Is Everyone a Candidate for Eyelid Surgery?

The best candidates for blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery, are those who are in good health, who are motivated and those who have realistic expectations of results. Those who are not good candidates include patients with thyroid disease, high blood pressure and those who lack a strong ability to be able to produce tears in the eye area for lubrication.

Eyelid surgery will not completely remove all of the wrinkles and folds around the eye area. Some of the signs of aging will remain, however, the presence of fine lines (crow’s feet) and wrinkles with be dramatically improved. Under Eye hollows and dark circles with eye bags can be improved but the elasticity of the skin cannot be replaced by having the blepharoplasty surgery.
