What Exactly Is a Short Scar Facelift?

A short scar facelift, otherwise known as a mini facelift or more accurately a MACS lift (minimal access cranial suspension), is a procedure designed to yield a more youth and refreshed appearance by moving the skin and underlying muscles and soft tissue within the mid-facial area. This procedure is different from a typical facelift procedure in that:

– The surgeon uses a surgical technique which makes quite small incisions that are not behind the ear, thus resulting in a much smaller and less obvious scar.

– The procedure is much briefer and less invasive because the skin is not separated from the tissue or muscle below.

– Dr. Sheffield uses tumescent anesthesia which is provides patients a surgery with less risk, reduced cost and a quicker recovery time when compared with general anesthesia.
