How is facelift done?

The flexibility of the skin and other tissues gradually decreases with age. This causes skin to lose elasticity and develop wrinkles. Rhytidectomy, more commonly known as a facelift, is a surgical operation that removes wrinkles and fine lines from the face.

Excess skin, wrinkles, and sagging facial tissue can all be addressed with a facelift. A brow or eye lift is not included, however they can be performed at the same time.

The lower part of the face, the neck, and sometimes the chest are the only areas addressed during a facelift. There is a wide variety of motivations for getting a facelift. One popular justification is the desire to hide the telltale indications of aging skin.

Those who benefit most from facelifts are:

  • Those who don’t have any preexisting conditions that could slow down their recovery from surgery or a wound would be considered healthy.
  • non-smokers and non-users
  • people who know what to expect from the surgical procedure
  • Exactly how does one go about getting a facelift?

As part of the facelift procedure, your surgeon will adjust fatty tissue and other subcutaneous layers to:

  • alleviate wrinkles by helping to smooth out
  • Lifting and tightening the facial skin involves removing extra skin that has accumulated and is the root cause of drooping or “jowls.”

How facelift is performed?

A facelift is a cosmetic procedure that involves lifting the facial skin and sometimes tightening the underlying muscles and tissues as well. Facial and neck contouring surgery can be performed to reduce fat deposits or reallocate existing fat to provide the desired aesthetic result. Afterwards, the patient’s facial skin is redraped over the repositioned facial features, extra skin is removed, and the wound is stitched or taped shut, depending on the patient’s option.

How many years does a facelift take off?

An average facelift patient can expect to see their benefits last for around ten years. Although a facelift can temporarily reverse the signs of aging on the face, the effects won’t last forever because the skin on your face will eventually age again.

How painful is a full facelift?

Although you may feel bruised and your face may feel heavy after a facelift, you should only experience minimal discomfort. On the first night, you may feel a bit of pressure from the bandage beneath your chin. We’d rather it made you feel safe and protected, rather than stifled.

Is a facelift considered major surgery?

A facelift is a standard cosmetic procedure, but it is still a serious operation fraught with danger. There could be cosmetic and therapeutic alternatives that require less surgery.
