What Is a Neck Lift?

Procedures that improve the appearance of your neck are included in a neck lift. Lower rhytidectomy or submental lipectomy are two medical terminology that describe the procedure. Your precise operation or combination of procedures depends on what you’re hoping to accomplish. However, if you’re content with the way your face looks, you don’t need a face-lift to have neck contouring. The following are examples of neck lift procedures:

  • Getting rid of the excess skin on your body (cervicoplasty)
  • Neck muscles are being removed or altered (platysmaplasty)
  • The removal of extra fat through liposuction
  • Injections of Botox are used to treat fullness or “bands” on the face.
  • Kybella injections are used to reduce submental fat.
  • Lasers, ultrasonic and radiofrequency devices, powerful pulsed light, and fillers are some of the other methods used to raise the neck.
  • You’ll meet with your doctor before the procedure. Prepare for your meeting by thinking about the changes you wish to implement.

With a neck lift, some of the most common issues addressed include:

  • wattle-necked turkey
  • Excessive weight gain
  • There is an excessive amount of skin on the cat.
  • To undergo a neck lift, you need to be in good physical shape.

How painful is a neck lift?

Patients should expect mild discomfort and tightness in the neck after the treatment. Prescription pain medications, on the other hand, make these symptoms easily treatable.

In order to reduce pain and edema, the incision sites are also taped or bandaged. In order to keep the neck and head in place, an elastic band will be used. Swelling and bruises might last for up to 10 days after a procedure. The incision site will also be slightly numb for a few days, but this will go away in a few days.

You may be told to refrain from twisting or turning your neck for a while. First two weeks, it’s essential to keep your head raised while you’re sleeping. Do not lean forward or lift large objects during this period.

For a period of one week following the neck lift, you must also abstain from alcoholic beverages. Aspirin and ibuprofen should not be taken at the same time. Consult your surgeon before taking part in any type of contact sport.

Following your surgeon’s recovery recommendations will help minimize any discomfort that may occur. Within two weeks, you should be fully recovered.

How long will a neck lift last?

Between 10 and 15 years might be expected from your neck lift, depending on how much sagging you had before the treatment. Your age at the time of the treatment and how quickly your body ages can also have an impact on the duration of your results.

What is done in a neck lift?

Afterward, the incisions are stitched up and a pressure dressing is applied to your head and chin to keep the wounds from inflating. After the procedure, you may experience stiffness in your neck and see some bruising, but these side effects will go away in a few weeks.

What is the difference between a facelift and a neck lift?

Skin laxity and drooping of the lower face from the cheeks to the jawline are addressed with facelift surgery. This procedure can be used to create a smoother, more refined neck and jawline without affecting the patient’s facial features if that is what the patient desires.
